2. The still life was the first piece that I did in this class, and I feel like I could have done better on it. I did the piece in pencil and wish that I would have done the shadows and values better. The pop can piece was one that I think that I did really good on for many reasons. It shows that I learned how to show the different values, shadows, and the right colors. It was hard to get the right values using pencil without blending because it was hard to make the transition from light to dark look realistic. When I used chalk pastel, it was easy to get the right values because I was able to blend them together to make it look realistic. I got better with highlights and being able to show where objects are placed in the piece. Overall, I feel that I have learned a lot in this class being able to learn new techniques and how to make my drawings look realistic.
3. I think that my portfolio does a good job showing how I have learned new things during the semester. I learned how to use different materials like pencil, pen, chalk pastel, and clay. You can see how in my first piece there is not a lot of value or depth in the piece. By the time I got to chalk pastel/colored pencil I was able to add more detail and texture to my drawings. In the warm ups I was able to take my time before the projects to be able to learn how to do each piece. I feel like the pen and ink warm ups were the best because we got to do a lot of them. I was able to learn new ways of shading and adding depth to the objects. Over all you can tell how much I have learned new ways of using each medium and being able to learn new art techniques this semester. 6. My favorite medium to work with this semester was clay. I liked how if you messed up you could just go over it to fix it. I think that my plate and the grilled cheese turned out really good. I learned how to make the textures look realistic on the bread with the needle tool. I think that I made the plate look good without using a mold. I liked how I was able to use the color of the plate to bring out the colors of the grilled cheese. I liked clay the most over any other project because I was able to do whatever I wanted with it. I was able to make it how I wanted from all angles not just on paper. Overall clay was really easy to work with for me and liked how it turned out. 7. In my opinion my least favorite piece was the pen and ink project. I don’t like how it ended up looking. I think that I could have done a better job choosing what textures and patterns I chose. I feel that if I would have made the patterns look more like bricks or other materials, then it would have turned out better. It was also hard because if you messed up you had to keep that mistake in the final piece. If I were to redo this project I would probably try and pick a different city to draw just so it isn't as complicated. Also if I were to choose a different color paper it might have turned out better. Overall I feel like the textures and patterns didn’t go with each other like I wanted them to. That is why the pen and ink project was one of my least favorite pieces. |
