First Day
On the first day we had to draw a tree in a landscape, an animal, a street scene, and a hand. I really like the way that my street scene turned out.
Contour hands
I had to draw my hand blindly three different times. The first two that I drew were really small. The third one was my best one. Then I had to draw three hands with one line. That was easier because I could see all of the bumps I was drawing
Contour Shoe & Bag
I had to draw a shoe and a book bag with one continuous line. At first it was hard to get the right size, but after a few tries I was able to get it to look realistic. I feel like the backpack was easier than the shoe.
Classroom Contour
1. I used one fluid line during this project. You can tell by the way I drew each object.
2. Being able to practice before I did the final was really helpful. It helped me make the final look realistic
3. A contour drawing is a fluid line that shows all the details, surfaces, and edges. An outline is only the outer edge of an object.
4. Being able to show the detail and the edges with one line is important. It will help you show detail better in other pieces.
5. I learned how to show detail in my pieces. If I were to redo this project I would probably start on the bottom of the piece rather than the top. I feel like it would have made my proportions better

Shading
First we made a value chart to show the transitions between each value. After that we practiced drawing a sphere, cone, cube, and cylinder with value. Last we drew a mini still life with the three forms with shading and shadows.
Ribbon Practice
We had to make a value chart using prisma color, charcoal pencil, and a charcoal stick. After we had to draw a ribbon using one of the mediums. I decided to use charcoal pencil because I like the way it looks when it is done
Fabric Drawings
We practiced drawing fabric with different values. We broke the fabric into basic shapes like cylinders and cones so that we could see where the lights and darks were. I feel that I could have blended the pencil a little better so that it gradually faded from light to dark
Still Life
1. I feel that I had a good range of values. Everything was blended well and you could tell what all of the objects were. There were not a lot of smudges or blank space.
2. I had a good range of value. I feel that I could of added some more highlights to places to make it look more realistic. I feel that I did a good job with the shadows and making objects have depth
3. The lighting is coming straight onto the piece
4. The compositional sketches helped me pick the part that looked the best. I feel that I picked one with a good range of values. They help me plan out my final piece so that I know where to put the right things
5. I feel that my final drawing is really successful. I used a good range of values. I used shadows to show where the objects are placed. I feel that I could have added more highlights to make objects stand out better.
6. The proportions on my piece are correct. I made sure to make everything the right size so that the final piece would not look weird. I feel that I made everything look good with the right perspective.
7. I feel that my composition is really good. It had a lot of shadows and highlights. All the objects looked good where they were placed and there was not a lot of blank background space.
8. I feel like the center of interest is the shoe or the cat. It is not located right in the middle of the piece.
9. I feel that I managed my time pretty well. I got the project done on time but I feel that I could have finished a little earlier. On my next project I will try to work a little faster just so that I’m not wasting time.
10. I didn’t really face any challenges while working on this.
11. I have learned how to use shadows to show the position of objects in a piece. I learned how to use highlights to show where the light is coming from. I also learned how to make certain textures with the pencil.

Perspective Practice
In class we watched videos and practiced different types of perspectives. I feel like the easiest ones are the one or two point and the hardest one for me is the birds eye view.
Colored Pencil Practice
Before we started our final we practiced using the prisms colors on different colored paper. After that we picked what fruit and what color paper we wanted. Then we drew the fruit and added lots of detail
Perspective Project
1. I created an interesting point of view by taking pictures of trees from below. It made the trees look like they were all going towards the middle and getting smaller as they reach the top. I think that the picture looked good with all of the different values in the leaves and in the trees.
2. It is important to understand perspective so that you can make the objects in the drawing look like they would in real life. If you know how to draw in perspective, it will be easier to put the right values on objects and know how big or small to draw them.
3. Practicing with colored pencil helped me a lot. It helped me know how to apply the colored pencil so that I could blend it well. It also helped me use different colors to add values to the different parts of the piece. I also learned how to make certain textures.
4. I used different techniques throughout this whole piece to make it look realistic. In the leaves I used short strokes and different yellows, greens, and blues.
5. I was able to create depth by showing objects getting smaller as they got further away. I also used a wide range of colors to show where the light was coming from and where the shadows were
6. Before I started this project I didn’t really like colored pencil that much. After I started this project I started to like colored pencil. I realized how much color you could get and how realistic you could make things look.
7. I feel like I was pretty prepared for this project. I think that we had a lot of time to practice and to get the right values. I feel that I could have made the bark on the trees look better and could have added more value. I also think I could have added more darks near the bottom.

Look What You Can See Through
Candy Drawing
Facial Features
Self Portrait
1. First I practiced drawing all of the facial features so I knew how and where to put them on my face. After I came up with a few ideas and I ended up deciding on a normal self portrait. Next I practiced with what colors I would be using so that it would look good when it was finished. Last I started working on the final and adding all of the small details.
2. I achieved different values in my skin by using different pinks, yellows, tans, and white. For my hair I used as variety of browns and black. for the shirt, I used different blues, whites, and grays.
3. I achieved a full range of values in my piece by applying light layers. I would usually start with building the lighter colors up first and then adding the dark colors. Last, I would add in all the details with either white, brown, black, or gray.
4. I feel that overall this piece turned out pretty good. I feel that I did a good job on one of my first self portraits. I feel that I did a good job with my choice of colors. I think overall I could have made it a bit more realistic.
5. I feel that I was able to capture my look by doing a lot of practice before the final. I feel that I learned a lot on how to draw faces. I feel that the next time it will be way easier.
6. I made sure that I placed my facial features in the correct spot by planning out my drawing before I started it. I made sure to make everything the right size so that it would not look weird.
7. Once you know how to draw each piece of the face, you will be able to put them together so that it looks good. If you get the right placement and right size of each feature your piece will look better.
8. I feel that practicing the nose or eyes was the most beneficial. I feel that if you make those look good, it will make the piece look better. I also think that practicing where each facial feature on the face was beneficial.
9. I feel that this piece turned out pretty good even though it was my first self portrait. I feel that I could have practiced more on the hair to make it look more realistic.

Scratchboard
1. I decided to do a desert scene with tumble weeds. I feel that the final piece turned out really good and would like to do another scratchboard piece.
2. I used textures in the fence and small, controlled lines in the tumbleweeds to make them look realistic. I also used textures and added values to the clouds.
3. I feel that my piece has a good balance of positive and negative space. I like how the fence looks up against the background and how everything is balanced in the piece.
4. I implied movement with the tumbleweeds and clouds. I feel that you can imagine them moving across the piece.
5. I feel that I could improve on this piece by making the hills in the background look more realistic and trying to have more controlled lines on the tumbleweeds.
6. I demonstrated a wide range of values in a few different places. I used it in the clouds so that they wouldn’t look flat. I used it in the tumbleweeds so that they weren’t all one color. I used it in the background to show that it’s getting farther away.

Egg Drawing
We practiced using value by drawing eggs with chalk pastel. I like how these turned out but felt like I could have blended the colors on them better.
Hair
We practiced drawing hair before we started on our final self portrait so that we would have a better understanding on how to make it look realistic.
Final Reflection
I feel that I learned a lot from this class. I really enjoyed getting to learn how to make my pieces look better. I think that my favorite part about the class was getting to use colored pencil more. Last year I really didn't like colored pencil that much and felt that I wasn't the best at it. I think that I improved a lot with it and learned new techniques to make things look realistic. It also became one of my favorite mediums to use because of all the detail and colors you can get with it. I also really enjoyed doing the scratch board because it was something different. I felt that my final scratch board piece turned out really good. Overall I feel that I learned a lot from this class that will help me with my art in the future and I am really glad that I took this class.
